ABOUT ME   LYNDA GRIFFITHS (LynArtWales)

I was born in Shropshire but lived in Wales most of my life, my family moved to South Wales when I was 10 years old.  So Wales is where I grew up, married and had my daughter.  Now living on the border in beautiful Herefordshire, Wales is still very much home with family and friends living there and still spending a lot of time in the area.

I have always been interested in art and encouraged to follow my passion at an early age by my grandmother (who was a professional artist and Lecturer in Art at Leeds Art College). I spent many happy times during my adolescent years being taught by my grandmother and after the birth of my daughter I undertook a Fine Art Course.

However, it was not until I finished work (after many years working full time in the Education and Health Services) that I had the time to start painting again.

My paintings are very much inspired by my time living and visiting Wales and in particular, Pembrokeshire with the stunning coastline, harbours and villages.  Now working mainly in acrylics I have developed my own style, which in my mind reflects the colours and bold outlines of the Welsh land/sea/scape and harbours which I so love.  Taking sketches and photos when visiting each place, I then paint them from my garden studio where I can relive these beautiful places and put my own interpretation into them.  People tell me they love my paintings because they ‘make them happy’, ‘love the bold colours’ and they ‘bring back such happy memories of their visit to the area’.
